KELANA JAYA, 15 November 2018 – Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) in partnership with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) organised its signature “Go Digital Talk” to upscale and upskill Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) via digital marketing.

The half-day workshop saw speakers from e-commerce sites such as Alibaba and Shopee sharing tips on successful online marketing and digital sales.

The workshop also gives an in depth understanding on methods to acquire new customers and grow the SME business using Digital Marketing Solutions for better sales.

“The workshop aims to help SMEs to discover new frontiers in digital marketing, to attract customers while maintain the existing, as well as retain and grow relationships effectively through digital platform. As technology continues to evolve, new opportunities for customer engagement and a broader journey marketing path will emerge. Thereby, we hope the session today with Alibaba and Shopee will create smart marketers among our SMEs,” said President/CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak.

Over 200 SMEs from various sectors attended the workshop that was held at CGC headquarters in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, today.

Among the benefits that the participating SMEs enjoyed during the workshop is the opportunity to sign up with Shoppe and Alibaba for online market access, apply for e-TRADE grant by Malaysia External Trade Development, free consultation on SME’s credit scoring by Credit Bureau Malaysia Sdn Bhd and instant financing/loan application via imSME, Malaysia’s 1st SME Financing/Loan Referral Platform.

The workshop also in line with the recently launched National Policy on industry 4.0, particularly in embracing new skills and technology to propel in the changing business landscape.

Introduced in May 2016, the mentoring programme is an initiative under CGC Developmental Programme, aimed at facilitating SMEs to succeed in their businesses through a series of workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions. There are three main pillars in CGC Developmental Programme namely Mentoring Program such as Gaining Market Access and Go Digital Talk; Market Access in which we assist SMEs to expand their businesses to both local and international markets, and Cross Border Initiative to form effective collaboration with counterparts across the region.

This year, CGC plans to reach out to about 1,200 SMEs nationwide via 12 mentoring programs and workshops whereby six will be on digital marketing and another six on gaining market access.

To-date, CGC has organized a total of 25 Workshops under CGC DP Programme which have benefited more than 2400 participants.
