SANDAKAN, 25 MAY – In conjunction with the Kaamatan Festivities, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) organized yet another successful Corporate Responsibility (CR) programme, this time with 100 residents of Taman Cahaya Training Centre for the Blind, at Kompleks Penyayang today.

The Taman Cahaya Training Centre for the Blind was established in the year 1970 and is managed by the Sabah Society for the Blind (SSB), for the betterment of the visually impaired society in picking up basic life, social and management skills; in order to become self sustained. The Taman Cahaya Training Centre is the only training centre of its kind in Sabah.

“As a responsible Malaysian Corporate Citizen, CGC truly understands the significance of the major festivals that are celebrated around the year. We usually reach out to the less fortunate members of the respective communities and for this occasion, we chose the visually impaired community, to usher in hope and cheerfulness during the Kaamatan festival celebrations,” said CGC’s Chief Corporate Officer, Rahim Raduan.

A contribution of RM 5,000 was made to the Training Centre which was presented by Rahim Raduan to the Chairman of the Sabah Society for the Blind, Mr. Cheong Sung Ching, witnessed by CGC Sandakan’s Branch Manager, Mr. Yap Pien Chie and the Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications, Mr. Kumaran Vyraperumal.

A myriad of exciting activities was organised for the residents during this special Corporate Responsibility programme; amongst which, were the Karaoke and dancing competition as well as lucky draws. This was followed by the widespread sumptuous dinner treat and the presentation of prizes to the deserving winners. The residents had a great evening participating in these fun-filled activities with some overwhelmed with joy and happiness after receiving their prizes for winning the karaoke and dancing competitions. All the residents, trainers and the guests were later treated to a sumptuous dinner.

CGC has; throughout the year, organised various CR programmes in conjunction with major festivals such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas and much more, in support of the various community segments in the country.
