CR Back to School
CGC held its annual ‘Back to School’ Corporate Responsibility (CR) programme with primary school students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram (SK Jeram), Selangor on Saturday 23 November 2019. The CR programme was graced by the Kuala Selangor District Education Officer, En. Abdul Rahman Yahya. Also present at the event were CGC President/CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak, SK Jeram Headmistress Puan Hajjah Hasnita Hassan and representative of the Parent–Teacher Association Pn. Norziana Mohd Noor. The programme kicked off with traditional and modern dance performances by the students followed by speeches from Puan Hajjah Hasnita Hassan and Datuk Mohd Zamree. The highlight of the event was the presentation of ‘Back-to-School’ packages to 94 students from Standard One (1) to Standard Five (5), with each of them receiving a set of school uniform, a pair of school shoes-socks and a school bag for the upcoming 2020 school term. The event later concluded with lunch for the invitees, students and parents. SK Jeram was first built in 1896 by the residents of Jeram, a quaint agriculture and farming village situated in the Kuala Selangor district. Puan Hajjah Hasnita Hassan mentioned that SK Jeram currently has a total of 307 students, 38 staff members and a total of 12 classes consisting of 2 classes per standard. This is the 6th consecutive year of the CGC Back to School CR initiative since its establishment in 2014. The initiative aims to ease the financial constraints faced by underprivileged families in their preparation for the upcoming school term. In 2018, CGC assisted over 100 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit 4, Sungai Besar, Selangor.
