CGC SME Apprentice Scheme
CGC launched the Second Cohort of its apprentice scheme for Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) graduates known as the CGC SME Apprentice Scheme on Thursday 4 July 2019 at Lanai Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia. The event was officiated by Datuk M. Noor Azman Taib, the Deputy Secretary General from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. A total of 11 TVET graduates from various skills development institutions from Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Penang, Sarawakand Terengganu are participating in this apprentice scheme. These TVET graduates will be attached with 7 participating Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Malaysia during the 1-year programme. The MSMEs are from diverse industries which include building maintenance, oil & gas, industrial ventilation, IT, maintenance, construction and engineering. The CGC SME Apprentice Scheme provides apprentices with the much-needed skills and at the same time, adds value to the MSME community. For the TVET graduates, this scheme helps them to learn new skills and gain experience throughout the 1-year attachment and at the same time, develop their potential as future entrepreneurs. In addition, the apprenticeship equips TVET graduates with key training while allowing them to earn as they learn. CGC will sponsor a significant portion of the programme cost, which includes the monthly salaries, employment benefits and statutory.
