BENTONG, 6 December –Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) today held its annual ‘Back-to-School’ Programme for 134 Orang Asli students from SK Sg, Dua, Bentong, Pahang as part of its Corporate Responsibility initiatives aimed at easing the financial constraints of the Orang Asli families in their preparation for the upcoming 2018 school term. The fourth (4th) time since its inception in 2014, the CGC’s “Back-to-School” programme initiative is also to create awareness as well as highlights the importance of education amongst the Orang Asli children. A necessity taken for granted by many, these students come from families who earn too little to afford basic schooling items annually and for them, a little assistance goes a long way.

CGC’s President / Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak said: “We understand the financial constraints faced by parents having to pay for uniforms, school bags and stationeries. Our aim is to try as much as possible to ease their annual financial commitment. The smile and excitement we see on the faces of the children are not only rewarding but also assures us that they will be ready for school in 2018.”

All 134 students from the Temuan ethnic group were presented each with a new bag, a pair of shoes, a school uniform, stationeries and a pencil case. They were also treated with fun-filled and interactive activities during the programme.

“As the saying goes, “knowledge is power” and I have always believed that education will empower people and is the catalyst for a more fulfilling life. In view of that, we will continue to support education-based activities and programme that would assist in developing Malaysia’s future human capital,” added Mohd Zamree.
