KLANG, 08 October – Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) held a special Corporate Responsibility (CR) programme to celebrate 51 autistic children and their 10 caretakers. The programme is a collaboration with the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) at its Klang branch centre situated in Teluk Pulai.

Established in 1987, NASOM is based in Ara Damansara and employs a total of 150 staff, to run its 15 branch centres that are placed around the nation to bring light to the autism landscape. It also serves as a sanctuary to protect autism afflicted individuals while serving as a one stop centre in promoting treatment, education, welfare and acceptance of people with autism, amongst the public.

The half day programme bore witness to the children’s mirth and joy as they played mini games and were treated to a sumptuous meal. CGC contributed to the home, in championing their noble cause.

Quoting Alan Turing, creator of the first computer and one who used to work on breaking codes during the second (2nd) world war, he opined that ‘sometimes it is the people no one can imagine anything of, who do the things that no one can imagine.’ The home’s manager, Mdm Rajeswary agreed with the statement on being different from the rest, as it is through this gap, that one’s speciality and talent is projected.

Speaking at the event, CGC Chief Corporate Officer, Rahim Raduan said “Autism affects all ethnic and socioeconomic groups and while there has yet to be a permanent effective cure for it, early intervention affords the affected community with the opportunity to support this community’s healthy development and in the long run, provide multiple benefits in their individual development. For that, we would like to commend and applaud NASOM for their tireless endeavor in assisting this special community segment.
